Our team is always standing by to answer any questions you may have about owning an EV, but we’ve also created a helpful guide to get you started. Below, you can find more information on how and where to charge your vehicle in Gainesville, FL.
What is an EV Charging Station?
Gainesville and its surrounding cities have easy-to-use EV charging stations that let drivers power up their electric vehicles quickly and conveniently. Drivers can also opt for private installations to easily charge their cars from the comfort of home.
To use a public EV charging station, drivers will usually need to pay with either a credit or debit card; however, free charging stations are also available. Downloading an EV charging app makes this process even easier. These apps help drivers locate the closest charging station, reserve a charger and sometimes even manage payment.
Charging Options
There are three different EV charging options: Level 1, Level 2 and DC Fast Charging. We’ll go through each level below, so you can understand the differences and decide which is best for your needs.
Level 1 Charger
Level 1 charging uses a residential 120-volt AC outlet which provides a lower voltage than other options. It can take up to 40 hours or more for the EV battery to reach 80 percent of its full capacity.1
Level 2 Charger
Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations offer substantially faster charging times than Level 1 chargers. These chargers can bring your battery from zero to 80 percent charge in as little as four hours or up to 10 hours. 1
DC Fast Chargers
DC Fast Chargers, sometimes referred to as Level 3 chargers, offer electric vehicle owners the most powerful and fastest charging option available today. With this type of charger, an EV battery can be brought from empty to 80 percent charge in as little as 20 minutes. 1
